The Blue Envelope Style Nursing Top

April 2004

I finally made a nursing top that I like and that fits! Must be because I finally dared to try some knit fabric.

I pin-traced a favorite sweather, changed the neckline, hem and sleeves. I also made an envelope nursing access (underlayer goes only up to the armholes and has a elastic on it). It's very practical and easy to nurse in.

I am so glad. I used a regular machine, a ball point needle and a very narrow zig-zag stitch. You can hardly tell it's not straight.

I had some trouble with the neckline. I made a band out of self fabric and couldn't get the right ratio. But on the third try it worked.

Things I have learned:

~ it's not hard to sew with knits (if only I had more)

~ this nursing opening is really great

~ I am really proud how I managed to make the neckline, my mom couldn't believe that I actually made this!

Actively sewing since
