Plastic Baggie Holder

(September 2004)

I have had problems with recycled plastic bags for years now, both in the kitchen and the pantry. Finally it dawned on me that I could sew some kind of holder for it.

I looked around the net for some ideas and decided for a very simple version out of a leftover fabric matching the drapes and seat cushions. I put elastics both on thop and bottom and hung it in the window.

I made another one from a different fabric for the pantry. Since then I have made two for my mother-in-law. They are so practical.

Stitched Picture

(January 2004)

Miriam (11y.) stitched this picture for her uncle and auntie in New Zealand. She designed it herself.

I sewed it into a tiny quilt.

Hair Accessories Organizer

(September 2003)

We have had many problem with all the hair combs, brushes, barrettes, scrungies, pins, hairbands etc. I tried baskets and all different kinds of ways, but they always ended up mixed up and messed up.

So, I decided to make an organizer for them. I bought a see-through plastic tablecloth. I used a blue very scratchy fabric to line the back and bound the edges. I turned out great. But I had a hard time sewing the plastic. Next time I would change some things, so that I would always had fabric on the bottom when sewing.

Actively sewing since
