The Short Denim Skirt

August 2003

I was in need of a comfortable home skirt. So, I took apart an old jeans dress that never fit me. The skirt on the dress was gathered, so I had enough fabric to cut out a A-line short skirt.

I used McCall's 2029 pattern for this. But since I don't have my current size of this pattern, I altered a smaller size.

Well, somewhere in my math I went wrong and the skirt ended up way too big. A few days later, after I washed it for the first time, I had to take in a total of 4 inches and now it fits great.

I never wear things this short, but in this "tropical" heat it's great.

Things I have learned:

~ when enlarging a pattern, measure well, compare well and do your math well

~ make sure you check where the darts will end up after the alterations, mine are a bit too far, since I only added width in the center
